The thing is, an outside person with executive experience at both leadership and communication should be a boon to any open source project. The maintainers are naturally tired, naturally not good at taking the time to communicate carefully, and want to focus on the thing that makes them excited, which is the coding part. A leader who is NOT tired, PAID to manage high level community engagement, and ISN’T in it to write code should be helping, and not just as a shit umbrella for maintainers.
