If you are nostalgic for the DX7, the Korg Volca FM is basically a dx7 in a ≤$200 box. You can use webmidi based app (chrome only 😢) to load DX7 patches from this page.
Why? Because someone, somewhere at Yamaha documented and published the MIDI SYSEX format used to program the DX7. Can you imagine that happening now with any tech company's product? They barely document their public APIs.
